aladin has been a board member of a number of innovative initiatives and organisations – including as Chair/Co-Chair/Vice Chair of Entelechy Arts, Black Mime Theatre, Head4Biz, Skylight Project (an initiative of CRISIS/Cardboard Citizens), London Cyrenians Housing and the Cultural Strategy Group at London's City Hall. He is currently on the boards of the sustainable fashion label amoosi and the cultural social enterprise Spitz.
 
aladin’s practice across territories and sectors has received peer-recognition for its innovation, reach and excellence, including: an FT/Arts & Business Innovation Award; an exceptional benchmarking for effectiveness by ARUP/Ipsos-Mori; showcase/highlight sessions at D&AD New Blood, D&AD Workout, Design Inspirations; formal acclaim from the International Federation of Settlements and Neighbourhood Centres (IFS); selection as one of ten nationally representative projects platformed by the National Review of Live Art; winner of a Time Out/Alternative Arts International Festival award; focus of a two-day mini-meltdown at Portobello Film Festival; invitation to animate/chair Manifesta 8 project Arts Assembly for CPS.

aladin has been profiled in various media,including The Times, The Sunday Times, BBC Radio 4’s ‘Midweek with Libby Purves’, BBC World Service's 'Outlook', BBC World Service TV's 'BBC Buzz' and in specialist publications as diverse as Third Sector and the academic journal Performance Research. He features in initiatives including widely cited reports "Boxed In" and "The experiment in Liseleje" (Organisational Art Summit + Learning Lab, Denmark) as well as "Making a Living: Artistic Survival in 2009"; he is the cover image of the book "New Ethnicities, Old Racisms" (ZED PRESS; foreword by Stuart Hall).

Active as a thinker and critical theorist across disciplines, aladin has been a visiting Professor/academic at institutions including Manchester University, City University and Christies in the U.K.; abroad he has been associated with Trondheim Art Academy (Norway), Copenhagen Business School/Centre for Arts and Leadership, the Learning Lab (Denmark), Reykjavik University and Nordic Institute for Contemporary Arts (Finland).

aladin has wide international experience as a keynote speaker across industries, not limited to the technology, energy, consultancy, creative, government, inter-governmental and voluntary/third sectors - and for organisations ranging from the Tate Modern, Schlumberger and the World Petroleum Council + Congress to the Mayoral  Offices of Copenhagen, Aarhus and Berlin.

aladin writes widely and has contributions in numerous publications, including: a chapter in ‘Under De-Construction’ (NIFCA, Helsinki 2002), a paper in 'Perspectives on Urban Development in Berlin, Paris and London' (Senat von Berlin, Berlin 2004) a section in ‘Occasional Sights: A London guidebook of missed opportunities and things that aren’t always there’ (Photographers’ Gallery, London 2003), the chapter 'Appearance, Reality and Truth in Magic' in the publication 'On Appearance'  (Performance Research 13.4, Routledge, London 2008), chapters in 'Oabook: The Thin Book of Art and Organisation' (OA Summit + Learning Lab, Denmark 2004) and 'Almanac of Political Art' (Re-Union Projects, London, 2007); he is co-author of ‘London: Cultural Capital – Realising the potential of a world class city’ (City Hall, London 2004), has been a columnist for Latest Art Magazine, UK and is a featured writer at Deepak Chopra’s 'Intent' as well as ‘Intentblog’.

A graduate of the London School of Economics (L.S.E.), aladin went on to undertake four years of post graduate research there, conjointly in global economy (supervised by Susan Strange) as well as in strategic aspects of international relations (supervised by Philip Windsor). He also has training in counselling, groupwork, psychotherapy and brief intervention applied to street detached and public settings engaging with vulnerable individuals and groups, including those with special needs or at risk of violence. In childhood aladin trained in Calcutta/Kolkata in classical Indian music as a recital vocalist as well as in fine art, attending the Academy of Fine Arts in that city. Based in London, aladin was born in Washington D.C. and has also lived in Dhaka, Calcutta/Kolkata, Delhi, Karachi, Lahore, Baghdad, Algiers, Prague, Geneva and Paris.
